Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student acquires knowledge in selected topics in study of molecular and supramoleular structure, composition and surface characteristics of polymeric materials in solid phase. Information about structure and morphology of real polymeric materials and their components are obtained due to systematic combination of individual spectroscopic, microscopic, and thermal methods.
Employes new opportunities probe microscopy in the assessment of surface polymer nanostructures and objective determination of surface roughness.
 
Course contents:
Methods for evaluation of molecular and supramolecular structure of polymers in solid phase. Spectroscopic methods and their application in the study of basic and morphological parameters supramolecular polymer structure, copolymers composition and proceeding of polymerization. Utilizing infrared microspectroscopy to identify defects and evidence of the presence of binders and additives in the polymer layer.
Specifics of electron microscopy techniques in characterization of structure and morphology of multi-layered polymer materials.
Color of polymer materials.
