Learning outcomes of the course unit:
To teach students how to use symmetry properties of molecules to predict some physical and chemical properties of compounds and chemical reactions. To teach students how to work with character tables and their use in chemical practice.
 
Course contents:
Symmetry operations and elements. Symmetry comsequences for electronic structure of molecules and implied phzsical and chemical properties of materials. The practical use of character tables.
