Learning outcomes of the course unit:
In the subject, the basic knowledge of construction of cutting tools, classification of cutting tools in terms of the characteristic features and calculation of the main construction features of the tools are summarized. New constructions of cutting tools and new trends in the construction, cutting materials, their classification, features and application.
 
Course contents:
1. Basic terms, geometric features of cutting tools, classification of tools. General resources by the designing and construction of cutting tools
2. Geometry of the cutting wedge, relationships between geometric elements in the tool plane
3. Choice of cutting material of cutting wedge and choice of tool material
4. Determination of default tool surface, kinematic schemes of machining, kinematic schemes of material removal
5. Calculation methodics of tooth gap, cross section of cut off layer
6. Calculation of outer tool diameter
7. Strength and toughness of cutting tools
8. Construction basics of tools with turnig tools and cartriges
9. Calculation of construction element of shaping tools
10. Determination of construction elements, milling tools, cylindrical milling cutters, frontal cylindrical milling cutters
11. Core drills, reamers, determination of their construction
12. Determination of construction elements of taps
13. Progressive directions in the construction tools, modular tool systems
