Assesment methods:
On the seminars max. 20 points can be gained
Time form:
Rating: 100% participation on the seminars, courseworks (max. 2 x 5 points), two tests (max. 2 x 5 points).
Combined form:
Rating: 100% participation on the seminars, courseworks (max. 12 points), tests (max. 8 points).
The course is followed by an examination consisting of test and oral exam. Condition of the proceeding to the oral exam is gaining min. 40 points from the total max. 80 the number of points that a student can obtain in the test. The student must demonstrate the knowledge gained within the lectures and seminars.
Rating subject: max. 100 points (regular assessment + exam)
A: 92-100 points, B: 83-91 points, C: 74-82 points, D: 65-73 points; E: 56-64 points; FX: 0-55 points.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire knowledge of forming machines and tools. Based on the knowledge of how the forming machines and their performance comparison of technological parameters shaping operations will be able to choose a suitable forming machine. Student gain an overview of the construction and use of mechanical and hydraulic presses, hammers and molding, rotational and other working machines. The student will acquire knowledge about the characteristics of the shaping tools and criteria for their design and construction. Student will be able to develop a conceptual design report for each instrument of technology forming operation.
 
Course contents:
1. Definition and classification of forming machines.
2. Mechanical presses.
3. Eccentric presses.
4. Forming and rotary machines.
5. Machines for cutting of materials. Machines for wire drawing.
6. Hammers. Testing of forming machines and safety.
7. Hydraulic presses.
8. Criteria for the design and construction of shaping tools. Characteristics of shaping tools.
9. Technological and structural components of dies I.
10. Technological and structural components of dies II.
11. Dies, drawing of work piece, drawing of dies.
12. Dies for hammers and presses. Choice of forming machines.
13. Dies for horizontal forging presses. Dies for processing of plastics materials.
