Assesment methods:
Participation at lessons (min 2/3) and all exercises.
Students will write test, elaborate 5 partial tasks and final complex task oriented on material design of specific product (20 percent). Results of final task will be presented and discussed presented before the other students and teacher.
The final examination will be written and oral also.
Evaluation of final examination:
A > 91 percent
B 81-90 percent
C 71-80 percent
D 61-70 percent
E 56-60 percent
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The course of "Utility Properties and Materials Design" offers for the student knowledge of utility properties different types of materials (metals, ceramics, glasses, plastics and composites). The student shall understand methods of material design, relations between composition, technology, structure, properties and applications of materials. Topics of course follow knowledge from material oriented subjects in bachelor study.

3. Material design-case studies, optimisation
4. Review and properties of metals
5. Review and properties of ceramics
6. Review and properties of glasses
7. Review and properties of plastics
3. Review and properties of composites
9. Progress in materials research
10. Presentations of assignments related to materials design
