Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Introduce students with problems of engineering calculations of processes in the manufacture of pulp.
Course contents:
Transport of pulp suspension, pumps, tanks, and mixers. Screening of pulp suspension, hydrocyclones. Material and heat balance of pulping technologies with the chemical recovery. Displacement heating. Heat consumption in bleaching. Evaporators of waste liquors. Combustion of strong sulphate black liquor. Recovery boilers. Causticizing and recovery of calcium oxide. Methods of pulp washing. Special processes of pulp manufacture (preparation of wood chips, groundwood, etc. )
