Assesment methods:
The course ends with classified credit granted on the basis of pre-testing of knowledge, activities during exercises and the quality of the protocols.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
After finishing course the student knows methods of evaluation main properties of printing papers and printing inks. Is able to prepare printing plates for offset lithography, letterpress and screen printing. Knows the effect of material properties and processes parameters on offset, letterpress and screen printing. Is able to evaluate print quality in accordance with current standards and identify print defects. Knows how to use measuring instruments for laboratory evaluation of materials properties and print quality.
 
Course contents:
Inkjet printing of test document - the impact of print modes and paper properties on print quality, application of ICC profiles.
Certified contract proof.
Pages imposition of the book, preparation of assembly plan, sheet offset assembly.
Optimizing technology of offset printing plates preparation – the impact of exposure and development.
Preparation the letterpress photopolymer plate and making copies from the plate, effect of print pressure and paper properties on the quality of prints.
Rheological properties of printing inks.
The effect the amount of ink on printing plate on the amount of ink transfer to the paper - construction of transfer curve and the yield curve, determining the constants of Walker-Fetsko and Oittinen model equations.
Evaluation the print quality of prints by using the control strips and identification of print defects.
Analysis of information and physical structure of the book, quality control and design of bookbinding process.
Making screen printing form and printing, solar cells printing.
Evaluation of quality screen printing print and measuring parameters of the solar cell.
