|Students write 2 tests during the semester. The sum of points for the test is 20. Students successfully pass the tests if they have at least 56 % of all points. Students also have to pass the oral exam. Students get credits for the course if they successfully pass both, the written tests and the oral exam. Students are graded as follows: A 92-100 %, B 83-91 %, C 74-82 %, D 65-73 %, E 56-64 %.|
|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|Industrial production of ethanol and microbial biomass. Trends in bio-fuel production on the bases of bio-ethanol. Source pre-treatment for alcohol production, fermentation methods in classical and modern distillery. Development of knowledge of biological, chemical and engineering basement.|
|Biochemistry and physiology of microorganisms used in fermentation industry, in ethanol production, baker yeasts and single cells proteins.
Resources of fermentation industry for ethanol production, baker yeasts and SCP.
Basic equipment for aerobic fermentation and ethanol fermentation. Basic equipment for cell biomass isolation and ethanol distillation. Yields account to source utilisation and energy.
Production of baker yeasts and active dried yeasts. Microbial biomass compounds utilisation in pharmaceutical and chemical industry.
Ethanol production for beverage industry. Production of distillates.
Bio-ethanol production as fuel.
