Assesment methods:
Elaboration of semestral work on: The Selected drug - properties, mechanism of action, methods of synthesis, analogous derivatives.
The exam consists of a written test and an oral test for 50 points. To successfully passing the exam, the student must achieve at least 28 points.
Students are grated as follows: A 46-50 points, B 41-45 points, C 37-40 points, D 32-36 points, E 28-31 points.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Subject builds on the knowledge of organic chemistry and medical chemistry and gives basic information on the relationship between drug - receptor at the molecular level. It explains the strategic principles that apply to drug development. In the interpretation are discussed selected categories of active substances in terms of their structural similarity, respectively. mechanism of action at the molecular level. Practice in the synthesis of selected commercial drugs.
 
Course contents:
The mechanism of action of drugs, enzyme inhibitors, receptor theory, agonist, antagonist drug development phase synthesis, supporting structure, synthesis of analogs, synthetic strategies - examples of the development and synthesis of ACE inhibitors. Development and synthesis of drugs for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases
GABA receptors - sedatives, hypnotics, synthesis of pharmacologically active benzodiazepines, barbiturates.
Psychotics - mechanism of action and synthesis of selected psychotics and psychoanaleptics
Antimalarials - mechanism of action, natural and synthetic endoperoxides, synthesis of selected derivatives
Ulcer Treatment - H2 antihistamines and proton pump inhibitors, Synthesis of esomeprazole, racemic switch
Healing the digestive system mechaniázmus effect a synthesis of selected antacids, hepatoprotektík, antidiabetics and diuretics.
The active substances of the circulatory system - mechanism of action and symtéza selected antihyperlipidemím, antithrombotic drugs and vasodilators.
Antivirals - mechanism of action and synthesis of selected active pharmaceutical ingredients known as antimetabolites. Known drugs for AIDS and flu nucleoside and non-nucleoside type.
The treatment of cancer - a mechanism of synthesis of selected antineoplastic agents.
