Assesment methods:
The student must pass a written examination. The notation is defined by the currently valid study regulations at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student is learned the physical principles and phenomena which are used in modern medical diagnostic and terapeutic devices. The course deals with the ionising and non-ionising forms of radiation, with the acoustic and nuclear physics. The next aim of the course is to present and identify various medical findings for the selected examples of real diagnostic records, e.g. sonography, magnetic resonance, XCT, EKG and EEG. In this context, the limits of the diagnostic methods are also specified.
 
Course contents:
Functioning of the human body from the physical point of view. The biological effects of electric and magnetic fields. Non-ionizing and ionizing radiation. Ultrasound, Doppler phenomenom, sonography. LASER. Magnetic tomography techniques. Nuclear Medicine. Radiation protection. Isotopes in diagnosis and therapy.
