|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|The main objective of the subject is focus the students education towards an overview about conventional silicate chemistry Technologies, and their current development in the area of modern materials, utilised in advanced technical and medicine applications. The discussion of conventional processing technologies of ceramic, glass and water reactive binding materials is extended into new trends and possibilities in presented technological areas such as development of functionalised, special and biocompatible materials. The student will expand their knowledge about modern art of inorganic materials, with improved application properties and their lifespan for their possible utilisation including e.g. space and biomedicine applications. In addition the subject will enable better understanding of the material properties requirements, which will be lectured to the students in specialized subjects latter required in the study programme Chemistry, medical chemistry and chemical materials.|
|I) Subject introduction – modern inorganic materials – specification of materials in accord to their historical appearance in human society – utilisation of modern ceramic, glass and water reactive binding materials.
II) Current technologies of preparation and processing of ceramic materials.
III) Modern ceramics based on oxide and non-oxide ceramic compounds, special ceramic materials and utilisation of ceramics in bio-applications – requirement on properties preparation and processing conditions.
IV) Current glass processing technologies.
V) Utilisation of glass in modern technology and biomedicine applications – requirement on properties preparation and processing conditions.
VI) Technologies of processing and production of water reactive binding materials.
VII) Application of water reactive binding materials in novel technology applications – requirement on properties preparation and processing conditions.
