student writes a test (15 min) after 6 and 12 lecture, where min. 55% has to be reached.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students obtaine basic knowledges about industrial biotechnology and the use of microorganisms for the production of primary metabolites and regulatory mechanisms. Discover the raw materials in biotechnological processes and the importance of membrane transport in the metabolite overproduction. Gradually, the issues presented microbial production of organic acids, amino acids, solvents, organic acids, sterols, alkaloids, bioflavors. Attention will also focus on the possibility of preparing polymers, microbial lipids, vitamins. The course also presented the waste in biotechnological processes, including the use of microbial biomass as a source ofrare compounds
Course contents:
Microorganisms - possibilities and limitations of metabolites production. Basic mechanisms of regulation. Raw materials in biotechnological processes, effect of membrane transport during overproduction. Biotechnological production of organic acids, aminoacids, solvents. Biotransformations of monosaccharides, polyols, organic acids, sterols, alkaloids, bioflavors ketose fermentation. Possibilities of polymers preparation, microbial lipids and vitamins. The waste in the biotechnological processes, microbial biomass - source of rare compounds.
