studios4 hours weekly (on-site method)

Prerequisites for registration: none
 
Assesment methods:
Processing seminar paper in the given range. Active participation in the design studio 10.
Compulsory presentation of the seminar paper in digital form in the commissional defense
within the deadline set by the Department of Architecture.
Student submits drafted coursework including all attachments in accordance with the task sheet before the presentation at the defense commission.

Assessment:
01. Research of the project type 20 points
02. Analysis, philosophy of design 20 points
03. Neighbourhood context, draft location of a building within a plot of land 20 points
04. Massing study, concept of architectural layout 20 points
05. Verbal presentation 20 points
Total: 100 points = 100 %


Assessment of the course unit is in accordance with the University regulations and Code of studies, article no.16. Assessment grading scale consists of the following classification grades:

A – 92 - 100 %, B – 83 – 91 %, C – 74 – 82 %, D – 65 – 73 %, E – 56 – 64%, FX – 0 – 55 %

A - distinguished (outstanding results) = 1, B - excellent (above average results) = 1.5, C - good (average results) = 2, D - satisfactory (acceptable results) = 2.5, E - passing (results meet only minimum criteria) = 3, FX - fail (results do not meet minimum criteria) = 4
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of the Design studio 10 (Pre-Final Thesis) is to guide the student to independent, conceptional thinking, to develop the ability to study, analyze and synthetize the subject and to apply the results in a creative way.
 
Course contents:
The student analyses the current state of the problem in Slovakia and in European Union, in terms of typology, circulation and architectural layout of the structure.
He/she treats hygiene and capacity requirements applicable to the subject and studies all valid standards.
He/she prepares a text – graphical elaborate with analysis of: philosophy, programmatic study, circulation study and architectural layout of all studied structures.

For the specified topic of the Diploma Final Thesis the student will focus on:
01. Research of the project type:
photo documentation of realizations related to the subject,
architectural layout and circulation analysis,
final evaluation of contemporary trends and typological design principles related to the
specified building type
02. Hygienic regulations and standards valid in Slovakia for specified building type
03. Analysis
04. Philosophy
05. Neigbourhood context
06. Draft location of a building within a plot of land
07. Massing study
08. Concept of architectural layout
