Learning outcomes of the course unit:
In the first part of the course the student will learn principles of integration in calculus of one variable, including applications. In the second part, students will be acquainted with fundamentals of differential equations of first order and linear differential equations of higher order. The third part of the course covers the basic facts in multivariate calculus.
Course contents:
- Indefinite integrals, the substitution method, integration by parts, the integration of rational function- partial fractions.
- Definite integrals, the fundamental theorem of integral calculus, geometrical and physical applications of definite integrals.
- First order differential equations of first degree -- separable and linear equations.
- Linear second order differential equations with constant coefficients.
- Function of two or more variables -- basic notions.
- Partial derivatives, local maximum, local and constrained maxima and minima and saddle points, absolute maxima and minima on compact set.
