Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Cross section properties. Equilibrium principle. Reactions. Truss and plane frame structures. Transversally loaded frames. Statically determinate structures. Internal forces.
Course contents:
Concurrent and non-concurrent force system, centre of gravity, resolving a force, reactions, loads and supports, function of internal forces on a simple beam, frame, three pinned frame, slung span continuous beam, arch, truss structure, perpendicularly loaded frame , second order moments.
