Assesment methods:
Before passing the written exam should be submitted a writing report, which summarizes the work at the exercises. On completion of the course it is necessary to obtain at least 55 points from the test. The examination is concluded by a verbal response.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire knowledge and skills in process of developing computer models and their subsequent utilization. Emphasis will be placed on understanding parallel computer architectures (asynchronous and synchronous communication) and efficient use in the real tasks. Lectures will focus on the precise derivation of the model and efficient numerical solution. The exercises will simulate real applications. The lectures and seminars will be also aimed on presentation of the results which have been achieved in real projects. Other problems are chosen from real systems, which have been theoretically discussed in previous courses of physics and applied physics.
 
Course contents:
Mechanical models based on the equations of motion and gravitation law.
Ballistic trajectory and orbital motion of the planets. Testing the accuracy of the solution.
Harmonic oscillator, pendulum and spectral properties of mechanical systems. Non-linear model. Stochastic methods. Construction and testing of generator of pseudo-random numbers. Monte Carlo method. Variational solution of hydrogen molecules. Extremals problems. Optimization of grain boundaries.
