Assesment methods:
After completing lectures, student elaborates a scientific text (article or the full text of conference paper). Student will be assessed based on the quality of the text elaboration.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students knows the principles of construction of scientific text, is familiar with forms of the individual parts of a scientific text, rules and procedures for the development and demonstration of various scientific text format (article, lecture, poster). Student can use different manners of citation, knows the ethics of quoting. Student knows a strategy for patenting and understands patent language. Student can elaborate a professional search in print and electronic sources of scientific information.
 
Course contents:
1.Literature search as a basis for planning experiments. The main principles of text construction, formation of various parts of scientific text. (allowance 6/0)
2.Authorship, co-authorship, argumentation and discussion of results with those of other authors, layout of scientific text. (allowance 4/0)
3.Documentation of sources, referencing and citing in scientific text, ethics of citation, citation and referencing techniques. Graphical abstract, main ideas and conclusions ("highlights"). (allowance 4/0)
4.Publishing strategy, choosing the appropriate journal for publication, index journals, citation index, impact factor. Criteria adopted by reviewers, causes of not acceptation of an article, electronic publishing, open access. (allowance 4/0)
5.Poster presentation, lecture. (allowance 3/0)
6.Methods and strategy for protection of intellectual property, patenting. (allowance 3/0)
