Learning outcomes of the course unit:
- constituents of terms and language in theoretical thinking architecture
- main steams in theory of architecture and urban design
- course refer to philosophy, history of art, aesthetics, environment and other cultural and natural backgrounds of theories of architecture
- course analyze and argue an position of generaly and special theories of architecture and urban design
Course contents:
1. Introduction :
- The origin and aim of architecture
- What is architecture?
- Generally and special theories of architecture
- Critical theories of architecture

2. Language and speech of architecture
- Sense and meaning in language of architecture
- Ideas of modernism and contemporary paradigma in theory of architecture and urban planning
- Critical terms

3. Building and world
- Imagine of cosmos and building in theories and thinking of architecture
- Place and city, way ang map, centre and aoutskirts

4. Proto-architecture
- Elementary architecture and their concepts
- Cultural and natural in thinking about architecture
- Sacral and profan models and thesis about architecture
- “Vitruvianism” and theoretical “point of departure” in next architectural tracts, things, imaginations
- Symbol as basis of cultural and natural motivations of architectural creation

5. Space and time in architectural theories
-Philosophy of space as modern precendent in architecture
- Phenomenon “live space”, pragmatic, functional, conceptual, sensual, abstract mathematical, artistic etc. spaces
- Emptiness, temporal and ephemeral aspects, experiments with space and time in visual art and architecture
