Assesment methods:
The student must comply with the classification of all assignments and tests. Share classification awarded on the overall assessment: 50% of the final classification .
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student will obtain detailed information in the field of legislation related to urban design and planning and building code and regulations. The student will acquire methodological knowledge related to design of city plan (master plan) - how to regulate zones in the city or buildings and constructions on the site, what is the relationship between planning, designing and building construct permission.
The practical lessons serve for presentation of the particular city or zone plan´s documents. The student is studying the plan and processes analysis of methodological approaches.
Course contents:
1. Introduction to urban planning, definitions of terms; relationships: architecture - urban design - landscape planning - construction; consultation No.1 for working on projects for the practical lessons
2. Urban planning in the 20th century in Slovakia
3. From Urban Concept and Urban Study to Urban Plan of the City
4. The spatial dimensions of planning:
- urban planning in the scale of region, case study Urban Plan of the Region
- urban planning in the local scale - Urban Plan of the City (City plan/Master Plan)
Basic methodological principles of design, structure and content of the Master Plan, specifics according to the dimensions of the settlement
5. Master Plan - case study
6. Urban Plan of the City - country settlement, specifics, case study
7. Urban Plan of the Zone (regulation / zoning plan) - methodology, content, specifics according to type of area,
Consultation No.2 for working on projects for the practical lessons
8. Urban Plan of the Zone - case study
9. Procedural issues of urban planning and construction process (project and conception, procurement, approval, structure and content)
10. General and specific requirements for the processing of urban planning documentation
11. The relationship between urban planning and permissions of the construction process
12. Actual trends in the field of urban planning, landscape planning, spatial planning, strategic and ecological planning
Practical lessons
1. project: student focuses on urban plan of the selected city, analyses the structure and develop brief synopsis
2. project: regulatory elements at the zone level
