Assesment methods:
•compliance with the provisions of study regulations of FA STU in terms of compulsory participation in various forms of teaching.
• Development of graphic exercises written assignment within the specified range and the desired quality. The results of the exercise are counted in the overall result of the weighting 20%.
• The successful completion of the test.
To obtain the credit is necessary to adequately meet all the conditions and obtain min. 56% of the points in the total eligible components. The final evaluation of the classification, the study regulations FA STU.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student knows the basic facts about important architectural works and their authors. He or she understands and can analyse historical, social, economic, cultural and artistic context of the architectural work and the mechanisms of their influence on architecture. Understands the position of a broader context of Slovak architecture in the European context. Identifies key issues of architecture of the 20th century and their exponents. He or she is able to openly and without prejudice evaluate the different architectural trends, interpret and critically reflect on them. He knows basic methods of architectural and historical research.
Course contents:
Lectures: Secession; Regionalism and national emancipation; Modern architecture: purism, New Objectivity and functionalism in the European architecture; Architectural and artistic avant-garde; Engaged architecture and social housing; Slovak variant of modernism; Architecture and ideology: Germany, Italy, Soviet Union and Slovakia; International style; Monumental architecture; Late modernism and other isms; Criticism of modern architecture: postmodernism; Critical regionalism and its exponents; New modernism
In the 45th week the lecutre is given by Ing. arch. Ivor Mečiar, ArtD.: "Digitalisation of 20th century architecture"
Exercises: Treatment of selected topics of 20th century architecture (selected concept, architect, work, direction, style, research lesser known architectural work, or similar special assignment based on the current research program of the teacher).
