Assesment methods:
Fullfilment of the provisions of the Study Regulations of FA STU in terms of compulsory participation in individual forms of teaching. Elaboration of an essay on the contemporary architectural design of public buildings in the specified extent and in the required quality. Its rating is included in the total result by a 10% weighting. Successful exam.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student will acquire theoretical knowledge base necessary for design of buildings in the field of civic buildings, thus formally terminating the typology teaching in the bachelor degree.
After completing the subject, student should obtain a more comprehensive overview of the most recent trends in the architecture of selected typological types of civic buildings with their own specifics, with emphasis on the current trends in the given typology so that the acquired knowledge can be applied in the studio design of the M2 module and in the future creative activity.
 
Course contents:
the pedagogues from the studio of the M2 module teaches in the lectures. The topic of the lecture is oriented according to typological focus, resp. topics of the studio assignment. The lectures are focused on new aspects of creation (type, disposition, shape, material, technical, technological questions, etc.) and overview in the given issue by presenting examples of many current realizations, results of current competitions, furthermore making available information from experimental studies, trends of development, visions into the near future. Students will also learn about architectural design using digital design tools.
Familiarization with the situation in Slovakia is realized through designs of our contemporaries - perennial and free discussion forums on the current problems of the present and future of our city Bratislava and other cities with a focus on civic buildings. The lectures will be the currently invited architects from the practice, alt. an organized sightseeing tour will be organized.
