Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student will acquire additional theoretical knowledge of the issue of settlements and landscape, the basic principles of spatial, functional and typological structure of settlements in the scale of city and zone. Student will gain knowledge about the possibilities of architect, urban planner and landscaper designer cooperations in different dimensions of urban, architectural and landscape design. Student will also recieve knowledge of planning, design process and protection of the urban structure of settlements.
 
Course contents:
1. Introduction - basic concepts: settlement, city and country.
2. determining criteria for delineating settlements.
3. typological differentiation of settlements
4. Specific features of rural settlements.
5. Functional and spatial zoning of settlements.
6. Basic principles of composition of internal structure of settlements.
7. Public spaces in urban and rural areas.
8. The issue of settlement greenery.
9. Contact zones of settlement and country.
10. Composition principles - views of settlement.
11. Ongoing development of settlements.
12. Trends in spatial development of settlements.
