Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of the module is to guide enquiry into the continual and parallel development of furniture and architectural design, as well as the design of public and private spaces in the context of historical, social, cultural and artistic developments. Students will gain understanding of functional and aesthetic principles as well as the philosophical basis of design choices in historical interiors. They will learn to appreciate evolution of furniture design and dwelling cultures, as a reflection of possibilities and everyday choices made by distinct social groups embedded in concrete periods of time.
