Prerequisites for registration: passed Design Studio II (1_AN2_AU)
Assesment methods:
Regular attendance at teaching process, successful passing controls of work in progress. Uploading the Interior Studio work to the AIS system in accordance with the form, scope and content specified in the assignment Interior studio AT VI, successful final Studio work presentation. Essential condition of course completion is also the submission of Studio work both in graphic and digital form to the Studio head lecturer.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire specific knowledge in the sphere of public interior design. He will be able to design public interior as a whole, particular furniture and building interior elements with the application of architectural-art, typological, ergonomic and technical-design principles of design. He will be able to design interior elements at the level of technical documentation with emphasis on design, material choice and technological logic.
Course contents:
The assignment of Interior Studio is focused on the comprehensive design solution of public interior of the category civic buildings, ranging from conceptual disposition-operational layout,
spatial-compositional, color and material design up to detailed furniture design and building structural elements.
Public Interior design covering the utility area ̴ 100 - 200 m², located in a contemporary or historic building.
- Basic information concerning Interior studio, assignment presentation,
- General interrelationships, defining of functional use,
- Conceptual disposition-operational, spatial andfurnishings layout, specification of
the detailed designed interior space,
- Building interior – space arrangement, materials, colors,new and demolished
- Interior elements: mobile and built-in – arrangement, types, materials, colors,
- Floors and their parts – types, materials, colors,
- Ceilings and lighting elements – arrangement, types, materials, colors,
- Entrance area – design of the selected parts: entrance door, show-window, portal,
advertising elements,
- Atypical furniture element – shape, structural, material and colour design,
- Atypical building interior element – shape, structural, material and colour design,
- Detailed elaborating of construction´s details,
- 3D models – sketches, visualizations,
- Final corrections, completion/graphical finalizing of drawing documentation.
