Participation in individual forms of teaching, submission of seminar essay of the required quality and passing a written examination.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Understanding of the environmental requirements of building materials and building technologies throughout their lifecycle, familiarization with the principles of sustainable architecture and use of the low tech and high tech approaches in it. Study on alternative approaches to energy and material flows in buildings including the use of renewable energy sources and their practical training.
Materials and technologies for environment-friendly building operation. Basic concepts, life-cycle assessment of buildings. Construction with natural materials (wood, clay, straw, stone), natural insulating materials, modern high tech alternatives, recycling. Vegetation roofs and walls, underground architecture. Impact of materials and technologies on indoor quality of buildings, environmental quality assessment. Technology for the operation of economical and environment-friendly buildings, basic concepts and basics, energy-efficient buildings, architecture design principles 2020. Use renewable energy related to architecture, energy and material flows. Assessment of energy efficiency, integrated design. Examples of application of alternative building materials and technologies. Seminar work: Exercise of necessary assessment methods and calculations, as well as applications of acquired knowledge (including knowledge of principles of design of energy efficient buildings) in the creation of an architectural concept.
