Preparation, execution and processing of measurements - 30 points,
Final exam (written and oral) - 60 points.
|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|Student understands the principles of the measurement and its evaluation. He learns basic properties and principles of instruments. Student gains a basic knowledge of modern instruments. He learns methods for measuring basic electrical and non-electrical quantities, necessary for design and implementation of measuring systems.|
|Evaluation of the measurement – measurement errors and uncertainties.
Electromechanical and electronic instruments – their properties and parts.
Analogue oscilloscopes, measurement of signal parameters using the oscilloscope.
Principles of digital measurements (sampling, quantization). Types AD and DA converters.
Digital instruments – their properties and parts. Virtual instruments.
Digital oscilloscopes - its use and possibilities. Oscillosope probes.
Sources/generators of measuring signals.
Principles of measuring frequency, time and phase shift – frequency counters.
Principles of measuring basic active electrical quantities – voltage, current, power, energy.
Principles of measuring basic passive electrical quantities – resistance, impedance, capacitance, inductance, quality, loss factor.
Measurements on two-ports (input/output impedance).
Measurements in frequency domain – spectral and network analyzer.
Measurements of electromagnetic fields using antennas.
Diagnostics of digital circuits – logic probe, logic analyzer.
Automated measurement systems.
Measurements on transmission lines.
Introduction to electromagnetic compatibility.
