Assesment methods:
During the semester there will be one writing test rated by 10 points. In case of proper theoretical background for experimental lectures, process the gained the theoretical and practical knowledge in form of project presentation, and alternatively other prerequisites, the student can reach at most 30 points. The student participation in every single lecture is compulsory. The final exam is rated by 60 points. So the maximal points gain is stated to 100 points. The final student evauation by grade is based on official study code.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The passing of the considered subject gives the student general systematic overview of basic power electronic theory. The student gets outline in the basic terms from power electronic area and power electronics electrical components. The student gets the basic skills about design and dimensioning of power semiconductor components, electric power part of actuator using DC motor, electric power part of actuator using induction motor.

Course contents:
Dynamic properties and characteristics of power semiconductor elements: Power diode, tyristor, MOS-FET, IGBT and GTO transistor. The overloading and dimensioning conditions. The simulation measurement experiments and work experience in laboratories give the student general knowledge about power electronic systems usage, actuators and also other electromechanical systems. The dimensioning of power elements: electrical power and power loss, thermal transient response. The dimensioning classification of electrical actuators power elements. Power electrical actuators with DC series and shunt motors. Impulse converters application on power electronics and actuators with DC motors. The basic principles and characterizations of power electronics circuits in motoric and braking state. Usage of power electronics in case of induction motor actuators. Also the frequency convertors application in stacionary and dynamic state. The electrical powers in non-harmonic voltage and current electric circuits.
