Prerequisites for registration:
Two semestral tests 20 points (40% of total), written exam 60 points (60% of total). Total evaluation - sum of points from tests and exam using official classification table.
|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|The student obtains the knowledge on statistical data analysis and some discrete and continuous probability models. The second goal is an introduction to scientific computing and basic techniques of numerical methods.|
|Descriptive statistics, histogram, measures of location and variability. Stochastic dependence, regression line, correlation coefficient. Discrete probability models, binomial and Poisson distribution. Random vectors, covariance and correlation. Continuous random variables, exponential and normal distribution. Features of numerical solutions, tables and graphs of functions. Finding roots od equations, bisection method, Newton method. Linear systems, over(under) determined systems, conditioning. Interpolation (Vandermond), Newton interpolating polynomial. Least squares approximation, polynomial and exponential models.
Numerical integration, Newton Cotes formulas. The initial value problem (Euler and Runge Kutta methods).
