Assesment methods:
During the semester there will be one written test for 12 points. The student obtains a maximum of 18 points for the experimental exercises and written report of obtained outcomes of these exercises. Students must complete all the exercises. For the exam, a student can earn a maximum of 70 points. The maximum score for the entire course is 100 points. Final evaluation of the student's mark is in accordance with actual study rules.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
By completing the course the student will build on the knowledge of the subjects of Electronic Components and Circuits and Analysis and Synthesis of Electrical Circuits 1 and obtain basic information on analysis and design of parameters of electronic components involved in simple electronic circuits. Teaching will focus particularly on the frequency filters and their properties, oscillators and signal generators and other types of analogue/digital and digital/analogue converters. The student will learn the principles of designing the circuit with respect to an optimized power consumption and sufficient reliability of electronic circuits taking into account economic aspects as well.
 
Course contents:
Frequency filters, purpose, classification and basic characterization. Selective filters, correction filters and phasers (delay) circuits. Passive and active filters. The order of filter transfer function, its practical relevance and choice. Transfer functions of filters in the frequency and time domain and requirements for their properties. The relationship of magnitude and phase characteristics with the time response (impulse and step response). Selected types of passive and active filters, analysis of their properties and choice of components. Oscillators - the emergence of oscillations, principles of operation, two-point, three-point, feedback oscillators. Electronically tunable oscillators. Generators of harmonic and non-harmonic oscillations - typical circuit diagrams, design parameters and choice of components. Analogue-to-digital (A/D) converters and digital-to-analogue (D/A) converters - basic types. Principles of operation and characteristics of selected types of A/D and D/A converters.
