Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim is to acquaint students with a molecular approach to the structure of biological systems. To outline their perspective applications in technics. By means of laboratory exercises to show students how to deal with biological samples and how to carry out electrical measurements on these living objects.
Structure, properties and functions of biopolymers. Thermodynamics and kinetics of processes of molecular self-organization. Biological membranes: composition, dynamic properties, membrane electric potential. Biomechanics: molecular basis of contractility and motility. Biostatics. Neurobiophysics: excitation and propagation of nerve signals, sensory centres. Biosensors: principles, technology and applications. Evolution processes in living matter.
