Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Understanding the basic principles of the existence of the superconducting state of materials, the dynamics of this state and the practical applications of this phenomenon.
General physical properties of materials at low temperatures. Standard conductivity vs. superconductivity. Main parameters characterizing superconductors. Characteristics of various types of superconducting materials. The most important phenomena related to superconductivity and related applications such as superconducting magnets, superconducting quantum-interference devices etc. Basics of practical cryogenics. Superconductivity and superfluidity as macroscopic quantum phenomena. Outline of theoretical description of superconductivity. Superconducting electronic elements.
