Assesment methods:
During the semester there will be one written test for 15 points. Preparation for an exercise, results processing and submission of the work give a student a maximum of 30 points. Students must complete all the exercises. For the exam, a student can earn a maximum of 55 points. The maximum score for the entire course is 100 points. Final evaluation of the student's is in accordance with the current study rules.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Completing the course the student get an overview of the technologies and techniques of data collection and processing of measured data. Participants will learn various concepts of measurement instruments and systems at theoretical and practical level and acquire the ability to select a suitable design for a specific application. They will learn how to approach to data collection in complex systems and how to evaluate important parameters. Student will get orientation in the software options for the field of measurement. They will be able to design a system for recording measured data on a PC using a data acquisition card or external laboratory equipment. They will obtain ability to effectively create a stand-alone industrial measuring system. They will understand technologies of the distribution of measured data.
Course contents:
Basic concepts of measurement, measurement model. Evaluation of measurement errors and measurement uncertainty. Measuring instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.) and their properties. Digital measurement, measuring cards. Communication of measuring devices, interfaces, programming of devices. Measuring software, virtual instrument. Automated measuring systems. Methods of processing of measured data. Use of microcomputers and digital signal processors in the measurements. Signal processing in real time. The concept of measurement using the built in (embedded) systems. Joining sensors, sensor networks. Distributed measurement.
