Assesment methods:
During the semester students develop five assessments with 45 points total gain (4x10pts, 1x5pts). The assessments include WiFi. GPS and GSM technologies. Requirement is to get non-zero pts from each assessment.
Assessments are discussed in details during exercises.

Motivated students can work on individual assessment during semester.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The course focus on the modern wireless and mobile communication systems. These systems are analyzed from their system architecture, protocol model, wireless spectrum usage and medium access methods. Student should be able to analyse and design the environment of WiFi (802.11 standards set), Bluetooth (802.15) and mobile networks (GSM, UMTS) with focus on physical and access layer.

 Introduction to the wireless communication systems
 Medium Access Control protocols and mechanisms
 Routing in wireless and sensor networks
 Wireless personal area networks -- Blutooth
 Wireless Local Area Networks -- WiFi and DECT
 Mobile Networks -- 2G, 3G. Architecture and evolution
 Satellite networks and navigation.
 Case study -- Electronic Toll Collection System in Slovakia
