Learning outcomes of the course unit:
This course builds on the knowledge of organic chemistry and biochemistry and gives basic information on the relationship between drug and receptor at the molecular level. It explains the strategic principles that apply to drug development. In the lectures are discussed selected categories of active substances in terms of their structural similarity, respectively. mechanism of action at the molecular level.

Course contents:
Mechanism of drug action, enzyme inhibitors, receptor theory, agonist, antagonist.
Drug design, development and synthesis, lead structure, synthesis of analogs, synthetic strategies.
Total anesthetics, analgesics, opioid analgetics.
Antipyretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Peripheral nervous system drugs, cholinergic system, local anesthetics, muscle relaxants.
Adrenergics, adrenolytic, ergot alkaloids.
