|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|Microscopic observations of cell chemistry, structure, proliferation, animal and plant body; practical aplication of the basic methods of the preparation of biological material.|
|Practical microscopic techniques. Structure of light microscope. Microscopic techniques -- introduction to light microscopy.
Chemical composition of living cell. Microscopic and biochemic detection of inorganic and organic molecules (Ca, cellulose, starch and glycogen, fats, DNA).
The cell research methods (fixation, maceration, cutting, staining, physical-biological methods in biology).
The cell and living enviroment. Osmotic changes in erythrocytes, plasmolysis in plant cell. Mitosis in plant cells, mitotic index.
Plant cell: Plant pigments. Basic types, the localisation and function of plant pigments.
Building of plant body, plant tissue. The structure and function of plant organs -- leaf, root, flower, seeds.
Building of animal body animal tissues. Animal structure and function. the structure and function of the four basic types of tissues in animals (epithelial, conneective, muscular and nervous tissue).
