Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Deeper knowledges about properties of phase interfaces, real surfaces, disperse systems and colloids.
Course contents:
1. Phase interfaces and dispersions characterization, distribution functions
2. Real surfaces, surface structure and microscopies
3. Solid surface characterization and surface spectroscopies
4. Physical interactions, intermolecular and interparticle interactions
5. Surface free energy and capillary phenomena
6. Electric doublelayer, electrokinetic phenomena and zeta potential
7. Properties and application of colloid systems
8. Surfactants, their properties, Gibbs adsorption isotherm
9. Stabilization of colloids, mechanisms, instability of dispersions
10. Properties of heterogeneous dispersions
11. Sols, emulsions, foams and aerosols
12. Lyophilic colloid systems, associative colloids, gels
13. Application of surfactants and dispersive systems
