Assesment methods:
During the semester project shall be submitted that is rated. The final grade is generated with the following weights: 20% - project, 80% - exam.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Mastering the corpus of knowledge of the field work focused on terrain reconnaissance and preparation of field data for engineering projects in the landscape. Acquisition and evaluation of morphological characteristics of the river basin.
The students will acquire the ability to measure and evaluate the morphological characteristics of the river basin, to process the acquired data for the basis of a project, and to combine the measured data with geographic databases.
The course also provides knowledge on processing and post-processing of measured data in GIS and CAD systems and their combination with data from geographic databases of Slovakia in various geographic coordinate systems. Next step of post-processing is the route design and creation of longitudinal profile and cross sections in specialized software.
Next area of the subject is the implementation and use of the morphological characteristics of the river basin in the hydraulic modelling and modelling of habitat quality.
Course contents:
Geographic coordinate systems and the possibility of combining data in different projections
Preparation of data in the field
Preparation of bases for field measurements with use of geographic databases
Possibilities of following-up the field measurements to the known points in the JTSK network (if these points are not available, the possibilities of using the GPS and GNSS for orientation in the field)
Specifics of obtaining characteristic field data for hydraulic modelling
Processing of morphological data
Measurement of abiotic and biotic characteristics to evaluate the quality of aquatic habitat
Staking works focused on a curved route of the river channel
Use of GIS GPS and geodetic GNSS for obtaining the field data
Data processing and interpretation of field measurements in geographic information systems and their combination with pre-prepared data, georeferencing of the raster documents and options for combining data in different projections
The method of creating and editing the terrain surface in AutoCAD Civil3D software using measured data combined with data from geographic databases
Use of the prepared terrain surface in the design of regulated route and creation of the longitudinal profile and cross sections in AutoCAD Civil3D software and Hydrocheck software
