Learning outcomes of the course unit:
To obtain knowledge of searching, restructuring, analysis and providing spatial data, understand the principles of management of spatial information. To know to describe the structure of the sources and methods of fulfilling spatial databases and restructure the purpose of spatial analysis in geographic information systems (GIS). To acquire basic knowledge about the distribution and sharing of spatial information, especially in a web environment. To understand the principles of building the infrastructure for spatial information. To acquire knowledge of spatial oriented systems and activities in Slovakia.
Course contents:
Fulfilling spatial databases, restructuring of spatial data, spatial analysis.
Management of GIS.
Quality evaluation, protection and security of data in GIS.
Distribution, exchange and sharing of spatial information in a Web environment.
Development of an infrastructure for spatial information.
Standardization of spatial information.
Information systems of geodesy, cartography and cadastre. Fundamental database for geographic information system (definition, creation and use of thematically-based applications).
