Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of this subject is to extend the knowledge of mechanics, mathematics into physical and mathematical modelling of structures using principles of finite element method. The applications are made into statics, elasticity and dynamics.
Course contents:
• Introduction into Finite element method
• Application of spring elements
• Collocation method, Method of weighted residuals, Galerkin method
• Derivation of basic equations for static and dynamic problems
• Bar element, derivation of stiffness matrix
• Beam element, derivation of stiffness matrix
• Plane elements, isoparametric formulation of FEM
• Shape functions and their properties, B-splines
• Spatial finite elements
• Mass matrices for individual elementsM
• Damping, proportional damping, damping matrix
• Solutions of algeraic equations
