Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will obtain knowledge about the structure of production equipment, used construction materials and their corrosion properties, the construction of thin-walled pressure vessels and their various structural parts with details about stress ratios for different types of loads.
Course contents:
Corrosion and corrossion protection. Limit states of load structures, the use of plasticity, stress ratios in nodes of pressure vessels, stress's categorization. Peripheral disorders, stress concentrators.
Shells of pressure vessels, the basic concepts of shell geometry, the equation of thin-walled vessels. Sizing of shells loaded by internal pressure by Slovak Technical Standard /STN/.
The stability of shell structures, signs of loss of stability. Containers loaded with external pressure.
Cylindrical shell loaded by axial force. Shells loaded with bending moments. Shell loaded by a combination of loads.
Elliptical, torispherical and spherical Heads and lids. Flanged joints shells in pressure vessels. Nozzles and manholes.
Storage devices - hanging and storage elements of design TN. The principle of calculating the storage node, the dimensioning and optimization.
Sealing of static and moving parts.Types of seals,mechanical seal, and non-sealing aplication.
