Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject is oriented on knowledge improvement of materials mechanical properties evaluation possibilities. On the base of structural materials behavior relations by various means of loading student will become familiar with evaluation methods and possibilities. Methods and interpretation limits of test results as well as behavior prediction will be discussed.
Course contents:
•Concept of the strength, toughness, evaluation of mechanical properties, fracture in real structures
•Brittle fracture, methods of fracture toughness testing by various rates of loading
•Material characteristics for fracture mechanics requirements, structure inspection in accordance with fracture toughness
•Fatigue fracture process characteristics, fatigue tests, mathematical expression of crack growth process, fatigue life estimation
•Creep fracture, creep strength testing methodology, creep test results extrapolation
•Wear resistance, testing methods, wear resistance criterions
•Nondestructive testing, limits of nondestructive testing methods
