Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of this subject is to improve, to extend and to get specialised theoretical knowledge in the strehgth of ship structures. To prepare the graduate for designing and optimising ship structures. Finally to prepare him/her for solving research problems in designing ship structures.
 
Course contents:
• Static and dynamic loading of ship hull, loading caused by cargo and surrouding environment
• Theory of plates and its application to global and local strength and stabilty
• Dynamics and vibration of ship structures, fracture mechanics
• Fatigue of ship structures
• Numerical solution methods for structural mechanics of ships, ANSYS, POSEIDON
• Strength of mixed sailing ships, polyhull crafts, ships in dynamic sailing mode
