Assesment methods:
The student is classified in three sequential steps:
1. Written proof of knowledge on exercises and evaluation of protocols of laboratory measurements, totally maximum 50 points.
2. Exam – wtitten test, maximum 50 points.
The final result expressed by mark is given with the sum of points obtained in particular steps: 92 - 100 (A), 83 – 91 (B), 74 – 82 (C), 65 – 73 (D), 56 – 64 (E), less than 56 (FX).

Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student is able to find links between various types of advanced materials, and physical, chemical and mechanical processes used in their processing and formation of their properties. He/she is competent to identify identical phenomena taking place in different systems of materials. He/she became familiar with handling the material-related problems in various industrial areas (metallurgy, mechanical engineering, energy industries, electronics, chemical industry etc.). He/she gained the overview about modern trends in development of advanced materials.
Course contents:
Overview of theoretical knowledge necessary for understanding of regularities related to processing, characterisation, and application of advanced materials, examples of advanced technology, examples of advanced construction and functional materials, links between advanced materials and the nature. Characterization of advanced materials by means of exact experimental techniques.
