Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of swimming lessons of physical education is the learning and development of breaststroke technique during this semester. The students will also acquire the basis of breaststroke turn and start. Students will develop endurance abilities through condition swimming during the adequate part of each lesson. Thus swimming will strengthen their health.
 
Course contents:
1. General instructions and information about the role of physical education (PE) at FMST, information about the organisation of PE lessons in swimming pool. Information about the security at PE lessons in objects of the Department of physical education and sports, information about the conditions for passing the exam.
2. Finding the level of the swimming performance and technical acquaintance of students. Separation of students into lanes according to their swimming performance. Basis of breaststroke swimming technique.
3. Learning of correct technique of breaststroke kick with swimming board. Condition swimming.
4. Development of correct technique of breaststroke kick with swimming board. Learning of correct technique of breaststroke arm stroke. Condition swimming.
5. Development of correct technique of breaststroke kick without swimming board. Learning of correct technique of breaststroke arm stroke. Condition swimming.
6. Development of correct technique of breaststroke arm stroke. Learning of correct timing of breaststroke kick with the arm stroke. Condition swimming.
7. Learning of correct timing of breathing with breaststroke kick and the arm stroke. Cooper 12 minutes test.
8. Development of correct timing of breathing with breaststroke kick and the arm stroke. Cooper 12 minutes test.
9. Development of correct timing of breathing with breaststroke kick and the arm stroke. Learning of breaststroke turn.
10. Development of breaststroke turn. Condition swimming.
11. Learning of breaststroke start. Condition swimming.
12. Development of breaststroke start. Condition swimming.
