Learning outcomes of the course unit:
To obtain knowledge and skills that are needed at the embedded computers design. These computers are an inseparable part of the devices, which they control. Generally, they work in real time and they use special input/output devices for an external communication.
Course contents:
1. Embedded systems, typical charakteristics and area of use.
2. Real-time embedded systems.
3. Concurrent processes. Independent and cooperating processes.
4. Process switching mechanisms. Process scheduling methods.
5. Priority assigning and priority inversion. Schedulability of processes.
6. Embedded systems with increased reliability.
7. Back-up. Static, dynamic and hybrid back-up.
8. Hardware/Software Co-Design
9. Embedded Systems and Internet of Things (IoT)
10. Embedded systems modelling.
11. Formal models and functional description. Computational models.
12. Embedded systems architecture description.
13. Methods of synthesis, evaluation, simulation and validation.
