Augmented reality in on-line education
In the last decade, information and communication technologies became an inseparable part of our daily life. When it comes to education, they could be integral to achieving significant improvements in terms of productivity, student motivation and engagement. With that in mind, it is only natural that there is a significant increase in the use of the aforementioned technologies in both teaching and learning. For the purpose of this thesis, we focused on the use of AR in on-line education. First of all, we analyzed the latest trends in education while focusing on some examples. After concluding the analysis, we created a representation of the Solar System in AR, which should help students engage in the learning process whether they are in class, or at home. Then we added a simple game to test students' knowledge on the information provided by the Solar System application. Lastly, the application was tested in a school environment and every test subject filled a questionnaire. As shown by the results, which were thoroughly analyzed and evaluated, it has been proven that the use of AR in education can improve the student performance greatly and has a huge growth potential in the future.
