Title of the thesis:Proposal of an extinguishing system for the extinguishing of tyres, stored in single-storey warehouses
Summary:Development and assessment, of the principles for a protection goal oriented planning of special extinguishing systems as well as empirical determination of planning and design data, for the automatic extinguishing of tyres in single story buildings, because until now, no qualified data basis for special storage arrangements is available. The "field of fire protection with protection goal-oriented automatic extinguishing systems" is becoming increasingly important. Of course, the safety and preservation of the wellbeing of the people take first priority here. However, loss of property and assets after fire damage makes it a necessity today, to plan and implement the architectural de- sign, technical and organisational fire protection in an increased degree in specialised construction projects. Technical fire protection therefore must already find its beginning today on the drawing board of the architectural or professional planner. In buildings with high fire loads and a high potential for environmental damage, in particular, personal protection forms the central element, where material, financial and environmental damage are increasingly more and more brought to the foreground. Loss of human life however, weighs incomparably heavier than physical damage. This is indicated with unmistakable clarity in any fire where people are injured or killed. The relentless mechanisation of operational processes and the application of ever higher energy potentials by the operators are associated with new or increased hazards to persons. The classical concept of "fire and fire hazard" is not sufficient today for all general risk protection to be permanently characterised for such an important area.
