Title of the thesis:Development of alternate material for trunk floor panel in car
Summary:The aim of this diploma thesis is to develope an alternative sustainable (natural fiber) eco-friendly material for trunk floor panel of car, also known as Belag Kofferboden* in German automotive term, with better strength than currently used conventional wooden and polymer matrix materials. This thesis consists the defination of the floor panel and its application in car, performance challenges regarding the conventional materials and the solution of the problems by providing natural fiber composites as an alternative material. Trunk floor panel with existing as well as new suggested natural fiber materials in this thesis are evaluated using the software Ansys for static load analysis to check the deformation under loading. This thesis will also provide the comparison of existing materials with natural fiber materials showcasing the positive and negative challenges as well as implementation challenges in automotive sector. This thesis will provide the conclusion by suggesting the best alternative natural fiber material in context with the strength of the material, sustainable material and cost effectiveness. Along the with main purpose of providing alternative material for trunk floor panel, this thesis will also showcase the methodology of doing static load analysis in ansys as well as classical plate theory and composite design.
