|Title of the thesis:||Detection of heavy metals in soil using bioindicators.|
|Summary:||The objective of this diploma work has been to characterize the selected group of elements denominated as heavy metals in general. We have focused on three selected elements: copper, lead and cadmium. We have also mentioned the possible natural and anthropogenic sources and the ways the heavy metals enter into the environmental constituents. We have described the effects of the environmental constituents' contamination by heavy metals. The aim of this diploma work is to verify the brown hare utilization as a bioindicator of the presence of heavy metals in soil. Considering the aim of the diploma work it was necessary to describe the current soil contamination by heavy metals within the Slovak republic and the game living at the Slovak territory contamination by heavy metals within the frame of the Partial monitoring system Foreign substances in eatables and feed. For experiment purpose, we have developed the methods for soil sampling and biological sampling and we have proposed the suitable analytical methods for heavy metals determination in soil samples and in the brown hares' livers. After the evaluation of the results we have stated the suitability to use the brown hare as an accumulation bioindicator of heavy metals presence in the environment, however we have not been able to prove clearly the direct connection between the presence of the heavy metals in soil and in the brown hares' livers because other environmental constituents (such as plants and water), which were not analyzed, may have played the important role in ths experiment.|
