 Title of the thesis: Design of Algorithm for the calculation of cut sets by Fault tree analysis via Microsoft Excel Summary: This work focuses on the issue of determining the cut sets using the method of fault tree (FTA). The major goal was to develop software (macro-Table) that would be created and executable in the Microsoft Excel, which main task would be to automate /replicate the determination process of cut sets using a MOCUS algorithm. In the First Chapter a brief history of determinations algorithms in FTA method is presented. The Second Chapter is devoted to fault tree analysis in general. Here you can find a description of the advantages/ disadvantages and potential use of this method. A principle of function of this method is explained in detail, together with an explanation of the logic of calculation and description of each gate. This section presents four specific algorithms along with their procedure. The Third Chapter is entirely devoted to the basics of programming in VBA. The main part of the thesis begins in the Fourth Chapter. At the beginning of this Chapter the goals of my work are set. This Chapter is mainly focused on details of software interface and description of individual parts. There is a description of the macro buttons but especially the part where rules are set and boundary conditions for usage of the program. The Fifth Chapter deals with the issue of pre-treatment of data entry and editing these data. There is also a section dedicated to ensuring the program against errors. In the Final Chapter Six, an invented algorithm determining the cut sets is elucidated in detail on a particular example.
